Big News for a Greener, Safer, and Healthier Texas!
The Texas Trees Foundation is thrilled to announce a $25 million investment from the State of Texas to support the SWMD Urban Streetscape and Park Transformation Project – a visionary public-private initiative to reimagine over two miles of the Harry Hines Corridor in the heart of Dallas’s medical district.
Thanks to legislative champions such as Senator Royce West, Representative Rafael Anchia, Senator Tan Parker, Representatives Morgan Meyer and Angie Chen Button, Venton Jones, MSHCAD, PMP, and others, this funding accelerates a bold plan to:
– Advance critical infrastructure
– Combat urban heat with 4,000+ trees
– Enhance public health and safety
– Create an 8-acre Green Park oasis
– Deliver over $1.69 billion in economic impact
Together, we’re turning the Southwestern Medical District into a healthier, safer, and more economically thriving area with our partners at the City of Dallas, Dallas County, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Southwestern Medical District, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Health, Parkland Health, Field Operations, Hyphae Design Laboratory, MIG, Kimley-Horn, Terrapin Bright Green, DRW Planning, and Rise360 Consulting.
This isn’t just an investment—it’s a game-changer for Dallas, and a model for the nation.
