In 2005, these efforts paid off with the hiring of the Dallas\u2019 first city forester. Among many things, Dallas\u2019 City Forester works with various city Departments preserving trees, managing new tree plantings, and training city staff on proper tree care and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas\u2019 current City Forester is busy managing many aspects of Dallas\u2019 urban forest including the following functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reviewing public landscaping and development plans to ensure proper tree protection.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating the city\u2019s various tree planting projects with Non-profit and Civic groups.<\/li>\n<li>Education and outreach to government, public and citizen groups.<\/li>\n<li>Oversees the implementation of the Great Trinity Forest Management Plan.<\/li>\n<li>Management of the Citizen Forester program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In preserving and promoting Dallas\u2019 tree canopy, it\u2019s important to have a full time city staff member looking after Dallas\u2019 Urban Forest on a day to day basis.
